What Time Is the Game? Use Your Calendar, Not Google
If you have to Google “what time do the Knicks play” every game day, put the team on your calendar. The calendar already knows your timezone. A scores app often does not bother.
Kickoff confusion is the actual pain. A 7:30 ET tip is 4:30 in Los Angeles and 12:30 the next morning in London. SportsCal stores times in UTC. Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, and Outlook convert them to whatever the device is set to — including when you travel.
Why the website and the calendar can disagree
Team pages on sportscal.io show times in ET. That is a display choice so a New York and a London reader see the same number on the page. Your subscribed feed does not stay in ET. Your calendar app does the conversion.
If both are “wrong,” check the phone’s timezone, not the feed. Airplane mode and a leftover “London” zone from a trip will shift every event.
The setup
- Search the team on the builder or open its page — Knicks, Chiefs, whoever you actually watch.
- Try that one team free for 14 days. No card.
- Add the feed to Google, Apple, or Outlook.
- Turn on a 30- or 60-minute alert in the calendar app. The reminder is yours; we do not send a second notification spam.
Premier League and other away times
A 3pm Saturday kickoff in England is 10am on the East Coast and 7am in California. The calendar is the point. You should not be doing that math every week. Same idea for Champions League midweek nights and Thursday Night Football.
